Introducing Max Harbin Kennedy

Greetings, everyone! I know we haven't posted anything here in a while, but we've been busy...

Max Harbin Kennedy was born at 5:23 pm on Thursday, January 3, 2008. He weighed in at 9lbs 7oz and 21 inches. He now weighs at least 17lbs! What a meatball. He sleeps 9-10 hours straight at night. He laughs a lot and makes us so happy. We are just having a lot of fun and trying to get used to his routine.

Because they felt we hadn't seen enough of the world, our dear friends, Eliot and Nicole, planned to have their wedding in the Dominican Republic. So, that is where we are headed tomorrow. We will be spending five nights at an all-inclusive resort (I guess I'll be having unlimited virgin drinks). I have a huge stack of magazines to read while I lay around on a lounge chair. And, of course, there's the spa. Matt plans to try his hand at kite-surfing, which should be fun to watch.

In other news, I had my first doctor's appointment yesterday. Everything seems to be just fine. My first ultrasound is next week. I'll try to get it scanned and posted. Then, you, too, can go, "Is that the baby? What is that? Oh, I totally see it. No, I don't. I'm lying. Oh, wait - Is that it?"

Anyway, Eliot and Nicole, we love you and wish you all the best.

Yup, nothing like staying completely sober for a five-night Caribbean wedding weekend.

*The Wander Yonder: Baby Version
One Income, One (Almost) Kid

Well, if you don't know by now, I'm pregnant. Due on New Year's Eve. Matt and I are very excited, if a little nervous about where we are going to live. We are still in his parents' basement.

We shared the news with the world on The Ellen Degeneres Show on Friday, May 11. Ellen called my parents and helped us tell them they are going to be grandparents. It was quite the announcement. They were very surprised, as was Matt's mom when she saw the show. I hope to get some video of these moments up at some point. We got a bunch of awesome free stuff. There will be a great deal of prize tax, so we're hoping the baby comes in 2007, so we'll get a tax break.

It's just a relief right now that everyone knows and we don't have to keep any secrets anymore. As for me, I'm feeling great. No morning sickness or any unpleasant symptoms other than more zits than usual and occasional huge waves of fatigue.

Watch this space for a link to a separate baby blog to be developed sometime soon...
